FanMaker Encrypts all Web Traffic

Since the beginning of FanMaker private information like passwords, ticket purchases, location details, etc… have been transfered safely via HTTPS, meaning the contents are encrypted and safe from prying eyes.

A recent trend on the web is to encrypt everything (not just private information), as you browse the web you may have noticed a lock icon in the address bar indicating each site is secure. Recently we upgraded every part of FanMaker to secure HTTPS connections. Now every client has a security certificate and everything (even trivial items like images and prize descriptions) are encrypted and transmitted over HTTPS. When fans interact with rewards they too will see the lock, and know their visit is safe and secure.

Membership Levels – New in FanMaker 3!

The new membership levels feature automatically ranks and groups fans into different levels of status. Setup levels at various point thresholds and fans will be automatically assigned when they qualify. Levels have names and colors you choose and there is no limit to the quantity. A member’s rank and level is re-evaluated every time they earn points, and even falls when points expire and a threshold is no longer met.

Similar to frequent flyer miles, membership levels give your fans something to work towards, and gives you more promotion and segmentation options. For example, you can offer certain benefits, or discounts exclusive to higher levels. A simple graph, like the one shown below, displays current status and level structure.

App Update 3.4 Brings Prize Store Filtering and Activity Feed Improvements

This weekend we released version 3.4 of the mobile apps featuring some often requested additions. The mobile prize store now has filtering and sorting. Members can choose to show all items, just auctions, or just contests. In addition the order of prize store items can be toggled from highest to lowest or lowest to highest point cost. If your prize store does not have any active contest or auctions, these options disappear.

Next up we made a couple improvements to the activity feed. Now members can “pull down to refresh” the feed. Also when a member scrolls to the end of the list of activities it will load in more, providing an infinite scroll all the way back to the first activity they completed for points.

Lastly we fixed a bug that stopped the activity feed from updating for some members and a bug that kept some members from being able to see micro survey questions.

Version 3.4 is now available in the Apple app store and the Google Play store for all teams!

Reports Now Run up to 20 Times Faster Plus Custom Columns and Email Delivery

We’ve been busy over the holidays improving some of the background aspects of FanMaker and I’m happy to share with you today the complete re-write of the export/reports system! In the past large exports of 50,000+ members would take tens of hours. NO MORE! The new system can churn through millions and millions of rows of data in minutes, not hours! For example a 100,000 member export (with all activity details) involving the merging of gigabytes of data can be complete in under 100 minutes!

Progress report

No more waiting, and checking back on your reports. When your export finishes you will receive an email with an expiring link to file. Past reports are always visible in the admin.

When building your reports you can customize what columns are included, adding just the data you need or select all to include the kitchen sink!

Select Columns

And when you using the “Download” button on any member list view the same powerful new system will run your export fast and with custom columns.

Welcome New Members with Registration Points

Get your members started off on the right foot with registration points. Now you can award a set number of points just for signing up. Great for encouraging new fans to join! It’s easy to set up under the connections tab in the admin settings area:

But what about your existing members that did not get points when they joined, or the thousands of single ticket buyers you imported that have not logged in yet? Just check the optional box to award existing members points on their next login. Now you can run a promotion to get those imported members engaged. Combine with mobile app install points for a home run!

Brand New Mobile Websites Launched!

This August we completely overhauled the custom FanMaker mobile apps with a new design and tons of functionality improvements. Now we have updated the mobile web experience to match! When fan’s visit a rewards site on their android and apple phones they will see an interface similar to the mobile apps in their chrome and safari web browsers without the need to install the app. This is a big improvement over the last version.

Apple’s Safari and Google’s Chrome web browsers are supported. We still encourage mobile app install for a more robust experience, but now fan’s can get instant gratification in their mobile web browser.

New Tool for Merging Member Accounts

We’ve added a new member merge tool that lets you combine two accounts into one and maintain point activity and attendance details. Perfect for cleaning up duplicate accounts for your customers. It’s easy to use:

  1. Locate the member you want to KEEP and visit their profile in the admin
  2. Click on “Manage” and locate the Merge module
  3. Using the merge tool search for the member you want to merge with
  4. Click merge to delete the selected account and transfer the point history into the account you keep

merge

In this example, all the points and details from dusing1@row27.com were moved to dusing@fanmaker.com and dusing1@row27.com was deleted.

merge history

We hope you enjoy this top requested feature, but do be careful. Mergers cannot be undone, and remember one account is destroyed forever. For your record keeping a history of all mergers is included on the manage page.

Select another member’s account to merge with this member. The selected member will be deleted after the point activities, attributes, and IDs are merged. The dusing@fanmaker.com account will be kept. If an ID number or attribute already exists on dusing@fanmaker.com account, it will not be overwritten with the selected members data. All possible data will be merged, merging CANNOT be undone, so please use carefully.

Imports Now 10 Times Faster

We have rebuilt our import system from the ground up. It is now up to 10 times faster at processing imports, and is incredibly more reliable. In addition we added feedback on processing status, so you will now see a percentage of completion in addition to queue status for multiple imports. When your imports complete many now have results files available for download that give helpful success/fail messages for each row.
